The role of cinematography in the life of modern man

The role of cinematography in modern society is very great with the expansion of its possibilities it only increases. Cinematography has long been an integral part of social life. Every day it grows and develops steadily, leaving mankind masterpieces for hire.

In this article, you will learn about why people need the cinema in the first place.

But before we begin, we'd like to advise you to browse our huge library of content. We update it every day. You'll find lots of useful articles on the subject of filmmaking and video editing that will definitely help you get better at this niche.

What's the point of filmmaking?

Cinema has a really profound effect on society. This is especially true in the public spheres of life because such visual stimulation can evoke a whole range of different emotional states. The shared experience of these emotions while watching a movie can serve as a safe environment for us to experience roles and emotions that we don't allow ourselves to experience elsewhere. The fact that we are not doing this alone, but in the company of others, makes the experience both enjoyable and controllable. Thus, watching movies together can be an expressive personal experience, a way of having a good time, and therapy at the same time.

But that's not all cinema does in our lives.

The film industry shapes a person's worldview, enriches or on the contrary robs him mentally. In general, it is meant to saturate us emotionally. Hence another peculiarity of cinema is its psychological effect on a person. After all, under its influence can arise a variety of unique feelings. A full-length film or TV series can bring a smile or tears, joy or sadness, excitement or a sense of peace of mind. Movies can change a person's inner state, character, behavior, and even habits. And here we can find another feature of cinematography, namely its transmission of the creator's intention. If the filmmaker's intention was for a person to think about some of the ideas and problems that the author of the film put into his work, and draw a conclusion for himself from it, then that is usually what will happen. Any film is a world of ideas, which a person realizes in his mind.

But how did cinema begin in the first place?

The acknowledged inventors of cinema were the French, the brothers Louis and Auguste Lumière.

The Lumière equipment was very convenient, it was easy to shoot and show films on the big screen, which predetermined the success of their invention. "Cinématographe" was the name of the Lumière device. But another date is considered as the birthday of cinema: December 28, 1895, when the first commercial screening took place. During their sessions Lumières showed several short (50 seconds only) reels.

After the Lumières' ingenious invention, there was the cinematograph, but there was not yet the cinema. The Lumières believed that the main function of their invention was to record and preserve newsreels for posterity. However, even in the absence of narrative cinema, cinematography was rapidly gaining popularity.

If you are really into movies, it will be great because you can discover a whole new world.
